Carson was 8 months old on Thanksgiving. Has it really been 8 months??? Wow, time sure flies when you are having fun and boy are we having fun. Carson is such a ham! He loves to smile and laugh and is such a happy baby! We are so very blessed.
He is crawling everywhere and is so fast! Just this morning the girls at daycare were telling me that he follows them everywhere, especially when they go into the changing room to change the other babies. He loves it because he knows they can't stop him when he starts pulling the diapers out of the bins because they have their hands full...what a smart little boy!
Carson is in the beginning stages of starting to pull himself up on things. He will stand up by himself with only the support of my hands. I have also heard from daycare that he attempts to pull himself up on the toy box. We have not witnessed this at home since we have pretty much "baby proofed" our living room by removing the coffee table and end table. The ottoman is a little too tall for him.
Carson is also adding to his collection of teeth! Tooth #3 is cutting through on top. Can't wait to see the new one!
He has also learned to clap his hands during "Pat-a-Cake". I was wondering where he picked up that skill. I noticed it a couple of weeks ago when I was singing to him as I was changing him at home. Once again, he picked that one up at daycare. The good news is...he is picking up more than just a virus or two at daycare!
And finally, we are taking Mr. Carson to see a Pediatric Surgeon next week to get a consult on his Umbilical Hernia (If you haven't noticed it, take a look at the first Thanksgiving picture in the posts below). As you can see, it's quite a large hernia. Generally they do not attempt to surgically repair these hernias until children are at least 2 years of age because it's possibble that they can heal themselves with out surgery. However, Carson's is rather large and it was suggested that we have a surgeon take a look to see if it should be repaired sooner. We'll see.... I would LOVE to hear from anyone who has a personal experience with Umbilical Hernias, especially those that have been surgically repaired. We would be grateful to hear how the procedure went and what was involved. A surgeon can only give you so much comfort.
If you haven't gotten your fill of pictures, I have updated the The Schmitt Family Photo Album with ALL of month 6, 7 & 8 pics. Enjoy Moms....cause I know you are the only ones who will look at all 765 of them.
