Austin Half Marathon

Brian and I have decided to train for and run the Austin Half Marathon on February 15th, 2009. Yeah!!! I am posting this on our blog so all of our friends and family know about our goal and help keep us motivated!!! I have added a ticker on the right side of the blog to see our count down to the race. Wish us luck!!! We will keep you posted on our progress. For those of you that have run a half marathon or marathon before, we would love any and all of your training and motivation suggestions. Feel free to comment on this post. We would love to hear from you. And if there are any other motivated bloggers out there that would like to run with us in February, we would love to have you at the starting line with us. Let us know!!! Even if you aren't in the Austin area, what a great excuse for a trip to Austin (hint..hint...) If running isn't "your thing", no problem, we would still love to have you at the finish line cheering us on. What a great way to loose the baby weight...yeah!!! Brian and I start our training tomorrow, 99 days and counting...

i'm not a "pro" marathon-er by any means, but i did run the full marathon in oklahoma city... i used a training program i found on runnersworld.com. here is the link to their half marathon programs... just read thru and find one that you like (if you don't already have one, which you probably do). also, be sure and drink gatorade, not just water. my only other advice is to just be aware that running is mostly mental--when it starts to hurt just tell yourself that it will pass! you will do great! i'm jealous... i haven't run in like a year. i'm a turd.
